Russia’s Nizhnekamskneftekhim has signed a contract with Lummus Technology LLC. Under it, the latter will provide technology licenses and engineering services for ethylbenzene, styrene and propylene units integrated with the new olefin complex EP-600, according to the official statement. The ethylbenzene and 250,000-tpy styrene units will use EBOne and CLASSIC SM technologies, while the 150,000-tpy olefin metathesis unit producing polymer grade propylene will operate on Lummus’s ethylene dimerization and olefin conversion technology.
The complex will also be capable of making 600,000 t of ethylene, 270,000 t of propylene, 248,000 t of benzene and 89,000 t of butadiene per year. The launch of EP-600 complex is scheduled for 2023.
