Chem-Couirer data

PP demand has stayed low in Ukraine in the second ten days of February. Quotes for the polymer rose early this month. However, amid large stocks of traders, some grades got cheaper. Customers that buy PP in Europe are getting little to no polymer as European producers have reduced operating rates due to force majeure events. Besides, Polish farmers are blocking the border. So, delivery times and costs have increased.

Ukrainian traders have recently started purchasing PP by Poland’s Grupa Azoty Police. The company is offering Gryfilen H04-L grade to Ukrainian customers at €1,140—1,160/t FCA Poland.

Turkish suppliers also do not have enough PP in stock. However, market players report Turkish traders’ offers of $1,210—1,220/t FCA Turkiye for PP raffia from Turkmenistan.

Prices for PP raffia have varied from UAH 64,000/t to UAH 66,000/t this week. Also, quotes for HGX-030 grade of PP homopolymers by Saudi Polymers have been standing at UAH 63,000/t for orders for over 20 t. PP homo with MFI 10, 25 and 35 have been selling at UAH 65,000—67,000/t. Sometimes, the higher end of the range corresponds to the value of the material delivered to the converter. PP block and random copolymers have appreciated to UAH 75,000—78,000/t this week amid their shortage. All the prices are on a CPT Kyiv basis and include VAT.

PP quotes may rise in Ukraine soon owing to transport issues from Europe and, as a result, higher delivery costs. At the same time, demand will remain weak in the country. Thus, prices are likely to edge up. Some suppliers are waiting for Turkmen PP raffia worth UAH 62,000—63,000/t to come late February, which will also affect the polymer value.
