The Turkish PE market has been stable this week. The polymer prices have rebounded somewhat, mostly because of higher offers from the US and Saudi Arabia. ‘There are still price decrease expectations among market players, but we start seeing some PE shortage in the market,’ a Turkish trader has told PMW. There have been plenty of volumes offered by SIBUR, but logistics problems have caused delays in delivery from Russia, according to market sources. Iranian offers have been unworkable and Middle Eastern producers have also been trying to keep their quotes stable to avoid spikes of buying activity. Local producer Petkim has completed its scheduled maintenance, which should increase the polymer availability in the country. Turkish market players have started preparing for Plast Eurasia trade fair in Istanbul next week, hoping to improve their market knowledge and figure out the general upcoming trends.
PE prices have risen a bit in Turkey this week. Russian suppliers have offered film LDPE, C4-LLDPE, film, blow-moulding and injection HDPE at $1,200—1,220/t CFR Turkey, $1,100—1,130/t CFR Turkey, $1,100—1,120/t CFR Turkey, $1,100—1,120/t CFR Turkey and $1,050—1,080/t CFR Turkey. Iranian suppliers have offered black and natural PE 100 pipes at $1,250/t CPT Turkey and $1,166/t FCA Iran. Saudi Arabian film LDPE, C4-LLDPE, film, blow-moulding and injection HDPE have been available at $1,220—1,240/t CFR Turkey, $1,130—1,150/t CFR Turkey, $1,110—1,130/t CFR Turkey, $1,110—1,130/t CFR Turkey and $1,100—1,120/t CFR Turkey respectively.
The Turkish PE market will be uneventful next week as most players from the country will attend the Plast Eurasia trade fair and the majority of monthly deals are already completed. Prices are likely to be stable amid absence of buying interest as everyone will be waiting for the end of the trade fair and December price announcements from suppliers. Material availability will be sufficient.
