Taiwan’s Formosa Petrochemical Corp. (FPCC) is considering closing its No.2 cracker due to poor margins and ethylene oversupply in the region. The No.2 cracker capable of making 1.03 million tpy of ethylene and 520,000 tpy of propylene may suspend operations in late February—early March. The facility will be idle for four to five months. The company is likely to reach a final decision by end-January.
